April 12, 2025 (Saturday) Cherry Blossom Tunnel
Morning walk. I time my walk through my usual park. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and there’s a field of flowers overhead. Every time the wind blows, the petals fly up, and a pale pink carpet is laid out on the ground. The only sounds I can hear around me are the footsteps of dogs and quiet conversations.
This park shows different faces in every season, but cherry blossom season is the most memorable. Today the sky was cloudy, but that only accentuates the whiteness of the flowers.
On my way home, I happened to see a Japanese sweets shop and bought some kusamochi. When I got home, I made some matcha and slowly savored it. The aroma of mugwort wrapped in the soft mochi and the sweetness of the bean paste make me feel the vestiges of spring.
It’s a calm morning. There’s nothing special about it, but these kinds of moments may be the most important.
